You will need to have a certain degree in behavioral or mental health specialization. This degree should prepare you to help clients professionally as a clinician such as:
Continuing education or graduate training in the following professional areas including but not limited to:

Psychologist
-
Social worker
-
Counselor
-
Psychiatrist
-
Psychiatric nurse
-
Addiction counselor
-
Other mental health professionals

Work/Clinical Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 1 year of clinical practice

Clinical work can be performed as a part of internships during the professional education

Clinical work must be supervised by qualified supervisors (licensed required)

Continuing education certificate in the clinical areas

History of ethical practice, and if applicable, reports of any license suspensions.

Applicants must have completed the terminal degree in their respective field and be licensed for independent practice. If licensing is not available or required by law, the applicant may present alternative credentials for review by the Academy.

Terminal degrees include but are not limited to the following: M.S.W, M.Sc. (Clinical Counseling), M.D., M.A. (Marriage and Family Therapy), M.S.N. (Psychiatric Nursing), Psy.D. (Clinical Psychology), and Ph.D.

A minimum of forty hours of specific education in cognitive therapy. The training can be of any format (lecture, didactic, online, or clinical supervision). Training must have focused on cognitive interventions and cognition.

At least one year of clinical experience using cognitive therapy in a clinical setting with a minimum of ten patients.

If applicable, up-to-date malpractice insurance.
